Milestones Behavioral Care was founded in 2019 by Chang Choe and Lillian Phan (Board Certified Behavior Analysts) with over 30 years of combined experience, treating individuals impacted with ASD and other related disorders, utilizing the principles of applied behavior analysis. Chang and Lillian had strong ideas of what quality service should be and wanted to bring their experience to the team and integrate the experiences they gained throughout their careers. A desire to improve the quality of service to the families they serve and to equally value the team members who help with their mission were the cornerstones when Milestones Behavioral Care was created.
Milestones Behavioral Care is a Behavior Analysis practice in Huntington Beach, CA with healthcare providers who have special training and skill in improving patients' quality of life by helping to adjust their behaviors. Behavior Analysts perform behavioral assessments, patient parent education, and coordinate care with other mental health professionals. Behavior analytic treatment is based on evidence-based interventions centered on improving patients' physical behavioral health by applying the principles of applied behavioral analysis. One to one therapy sessions are conducted with patients with formulated goals, with oversight of treatment plans, to make lasting positive goal achievements.
As a University of California Los Angeles graduate, Chang’s studies emphasized Sociology and Applied Developmental Psychology. Chang served as a teacher at UCLA’s Early Care and Education Center. Some of his main responsibilities included maintaining the center’s quality programming as well as assisting with curriculum development and planning. As a teacher, he took on an interest with the children who exhibited behavioral concerns and helped them to socialize and to communicate their needs. His desire to help children who experienced behavioral challenges directed him towards a path to work in the field of applied behavioral analysis, where his passion grew.
He went on to earn his Master of Arts degree in Teaching from National University and became a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) in 2013. As a behavior analyst, Chang is experienced with a demonstrated history of working in individual and family services. His career in ABA started in 2002 and has contributed to the empowerment and education of individuals in the community by providing parent training workshops throughout Orange County.
Chang took on the most challenging clients as a clinical supervisor, which lead to his promotion as clinical director, overseeing hundreds of cases to ensure the quality of care and fidelity of service. He mentored countless BCBAs and supported challenging cases with clients who had behavioral excess in aggression, self-injury, and intense stereotypy. His experience as a clinical director also included traveling to different states to help with the organizations’ most challenging cases, directly training the staff and parents to help gain compliance and decrease maladaptive behaviors.
Chang is skilled in Autism Spectrum Disorders and Staff Development with experience mentoring clinical and master’s level supervisors. Chang has extensive experience with behavior reduction including self-injury, physical aggression, tantrums, is well versed with desensitization programs, and implementing behavior momentum strategies.
Lillian found an interest in applied behavioral analysis when she attended the University of California Los Angeles for her undergraduate coursework where she first enrolled in a class taught by Dr. Ivar Lovass. She studied with Dr. Ivar Lovaas both as an undergraduate at UCLA and as a therapist at the Lovaas Institute in 1999. She quickly developed a passion for helping families improve their lives through the use of applied behavioral analytic principles. After graduating, she served as a behavioral technician for families all over Southern California. She went on to further her education as she completed her Master of Science program from Cal State University of Los Angeles and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2010.
With over 20 years of experience in the field of Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) she is well versed with ABA principles and has helped families improve their lives by reducing problem behaviors and teaching necessary skills. She discovered a new approach to modifying behavior and found endless possibilities with the use of ABA principles when treating people affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and even those that are not.
Lillian has been a mentor to countless BCBAs from her previous organization and was an integral member who helped develop systems and policies to support technicians as well as BCBAs. As a mentor, she held training workshops that helped facilitate the growth of valuable skills to the technicians and BCBAs. Her instinctual determination to help the families and staff lead her to becoming a regional director in her previous organization.
As a regional director, she oversaw Early Intervention Programs where she collaborated with parents, SLPs, OTs, and BCBAs and was the main point person for all of the organizational factors. She was also instrumental in the development of an evaluation system to monitor therapists and supervisors to ensure quality of services. In addition, she has also served as an Adjunct Professor at National University in their Applied Behavior Analyst certificate program.
Lynne’s interests in helping children came natural at a young age. Throughout Lynne’s high school and her undergraduate years, Lynne was heavily involved in athletics, being a mentor to her teammates, and was a leader on and off the court. She volunteered in the Special Olympics, coached basketball camps, assisted in the development of an organization that facilitated sports with the neurodiverse population and also mentored the youth at various children’s clinics.
Lynne graduated from Chapman University with an undergraduate emphasis in psychology and educational studies. Her passion led her to the field of applied behavior analysis working as a behavior technician, learning various ABA principles that helped countless children learn valuable skills while playing an integral role in decreasing maladaptive behaviors. Her experience continued to expand as she was promoted to a program supervisor where she trained and oversaw behavior technicians. She pursued her Master’s in ABA at National University, becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2021.
Lynne is skilled in the application and teaching of ABA strategies including: DTT, PECS, PRT, among others. Lynne educates families throughout Orange County as a parent consultant and leads a team as she provides continued training as a clinical supervisor. She is a mentor to her team and fosters a positive learning atmosphere wherever she goes. Lynne enjoys bringing a fun, energetic, and playful energy to the families she serves.
Lynne is committed to serving families and children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disorders. She strives to help as many children as she can to develop valuable skills and decrease maladaptive behaviors. She also empowers parents through parent training, teaching parents the skills to appropriately teach their children and address maladaptive behaviors.
Kimberly started her career working with children when she worked as a recreational aide at an elementary school in 2010. After working with children diagnosed with ASD, her curiosity grew and a genuine passion developed to help people affected by ASD and their families by helping them to overcome challenges and obstacles as they navigate life.
She pursued her education, increasing her knowledge in her new found interest and attended California State University of Long Beach with an emphasis in Family Consumer Science, specializing in Child Development and Family Studies. After graduating, she worked in the hospital setting to gain more experience and knowledge in the field of ABA where she met a variety of individuals and helped them to learn how to communicate their wants and needs.
Kimberly advanced her studies even further and eventually earned her Master of Arts in Human Behavior with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis from National University. She is currently working as a BCBA and supports families develop and achieve their goals. She also plays an integral part in training behavioral technicians and guides them to be successful in this field.
Kimberly strives to help her clients and their families grow as she works closely with the families she serves. Kimberly is optimistic, creative, and has a playful approach that helps reach her clients, which contributes to assisting with the generalization process to parents and caregivers.
Throughout high school and her undergraduate college years, Eunice was heavily involved in volunteer work with her church and went on different missionary trips. She volunteered at her church during a summer camp one year where she was assigned to be the buddy of a student with special needs. She learned valuable life lessons during that year, seeing the challenges of her student and helping her overcome some of those challenges.
Her interest in ABA grew and she decided to pursue a career in ABA working as a behavioral technician. She finds her career rewarding as she observes her clients make meaningful progress that positively affects not only her client but also her client’s family. Throughout the past 10 years of working in ABA, Eunice has learned to build trusting relationships with her clients and their families, ensuring that the families she serves receives quality care and support.
Eunice continued to pursue her higher education and focused on gaining her undergraduate degree in Child Adolescent Development. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Applied Behavioral Analysis where she hopes to continue to impact the lives of families affected by ASD as a behavior analyst.
Eunice is currently working in several different roles at Milestones. She continues to work as an RBT where she provides 1:1 services; is a parent consultant, educating parents in ABA principles; and is also a program supervisor where she helps to oversee client programs and supports other technicians implement behavioral management strategies, in addition to helping the team to develop skill acquisition goals for the clients she serves.
Linh developed a passion for ABA when she learned her cousin was diagnosed with ASD and experienced the difficulties and challenges her aunt and uncle were going through. Observing the struggles families experienced triggered an empathetic response that developed a drive to help her family and others struggling with similar behavioral challenges. She has seen and experienced the challenges firsthand as her aunt and uncle tried their best to teach communication skills and social interactions skills. Linh wanted to help them and wanted to learn more so she could help her family.
Linh became a behavior technician and served families throughout Orange County. She learned valuable skills as she worked in the field of ABA and experienced the effectiveness of ABA. Linh feels blessed when she is able to contribute to society by helping families who struggle with behavioral challenges by working with them directly and also by teaching parents ABA strategies.
Linh graduated from California State University of Long Beach with an undergraduate emphasis in biomedical engineering. She advanced her studies and earned her Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis from National University in pursuit to become a BCBA. She is currently working as a registered behavior technician (RBT), parent consultant, and program supervisor serving families all over Orange County. Linh is endeavoring to help her clients and their families reach their full potential through prevention, intervention, and education of applied behavioral analytic principles.
As a young adult, Lyn developed a passion for helping young kids. While working as a tutor, she studied at California State University of Fullerton and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Afterwards, she attended University of North Dakota where she graduated with a Master of Science in Special Education with an emphasis in ABA.
While attending college, Lyn’s parents adopted her cousin who was diagnosed with autism at an early age. Lyn’s cousin received weekly behavioral services where Lyn participated in many of these sessions. During these sessions, Lyn saw firsthand how much ABA had helped her cousin and she wanted to help families who faced similar challenges.
Lyn’s experience in the field of ABA started in 2014. With over 8 years of experience in ABA, Lyn has worked with clients from ages 3 to 22. She has worked as a behavior technician, a parent consult, and as a program supervisor. In addition, Lyn has 3 years of experience as a social skills facilitator. Lyn created fun, detailed, and specific lesson plans for her classes to help clients develop strong social skills so they can build relationships to support their success in the community. One of the ways she accomplishes this goal is by creating visuals to help support the client and family.
Sarah had an interest in helping people at a young age and pursued her undergraduate degree in Sociology. However, the course of her career took her towards a job field where she felt were limitations to helping others the way she had imagined. In 2021, Sarah decided to take a completely different career path and started working as a behavioral technician to help those diagnosed with ASD and related disorders.
Sarah soon developed a newfound passion for helping individuals and their families by teaching people diagnosed with ASD and related disorders socially appropriate behaviors, helping to decrease maladaptive behaviors, and promoting independence within their natural environment. Sarah quickly earned her title as a Registered Behavioral Technician. Her passion and dedication lead her to further her education and she soon enrolled in a graduate program to pursue her degree in Master of Applied Behavior Analysis at Florida State Institute of Technology and is currently a BCBA candidate.
Sarah is currently helping families as a direct interventionist by providing 1:1 therapy, in addition to supporting parents by teaching them behavior management strategies as a parent consultant. As a program supervisor, she helps train behavioral technicians to gain analytic skills, implement various ABA strategies, and assists with the oversight of client programs under the guidance of a BCBA.
Sydney always had an interest in children and their development. Her curiosity increasingly grew after taking a few psychology courses during her undergraduate education. She developed an interest in people who have exceptional needs and started her career in ABA as an RBT (Registered Behavioral Technician). Sydney enjoyed working with families, helping her clients and families by implementing ABA strategies, and by teaching the families more effective ways to communicate.
Sydney went on to pursue her Master’s in Marriage and Family and graduated from California State University San Marcos. She gained experience working as a therapist in a group home setting and for the school district; however, she soon realized her passion was in ABA. This led her to pursue an education in ABA.
Sydney is currently a BCBA candidate who provides clinical guidance as a program supervisor and provides parent training throughout Orange County. Sydney is committed to working with families and teaching valuable skills to clients in order for them to live more fulfilling lives. Sydney cares deeply about the progress of her clients and has an adaptable approach with clients and their families. She strives to empower clients and provides a safe and fun environment in order to foster a positive learning atmosphere.
